Three ways to split a PDF
Splitting means different things depending on what you are holding, so you pick the one you need before you save:
- Split every N pages — turn a 120-page scan into twelve files of ten pages each.
- Split after chosen pages — type 4, 9, 17 to cut the document at exactly those points.
- Split into odd and even pages — useful when a duplex scan ended up in a single file.
You get a ZIP with the separate PDFs inside, numbered after the original file so they stay in order in your folder. Pages are copied as they are: no re-compression, no quality loss, and the text stays selectable.
When a different split makes more sense
If the document already has a table of contents, Split by bookmarks gives you one PDF per chapter with no page counting at all. For a stack of invoices or a mail merge, Split by text starts a new file on every page containing a phrase such as “Invoice number”. If the problem is an email attachment limit, Split by size fills each part up to a maximum size in megabytes. And a scanned book with two pages photographed on one sheet needs Split in half.
Split a PDF, or extract pages from it?
Splitting divides the whole document into parts. If you only want a few pages out of it and do not care about the rest, Extract pages is the shorter route: select the thumbnails you want and save them as one new PDF, or as one PDF per page. To throw pages away instead, use Delete pages.
Your files never leave your device
This tool is JavaScript running inside your own browser. Your PDF is read from your disk into the browser’s memory, changed there, and written back out as a download. It is never uploaded, so there is no copy of it on our servers to leak, and nothing to delete afterwards. That matters for contracts, payslips, medical letters, ID scans and anything else you would not email to a stranger.
