What the converter produces
PDF to Word turns a fixed page layout back into an editable .docx file: paragraphs you can retype, headings, lists and tables, with fonts and spacing kept as close to the original as the two formats allow. Open the result in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages and change whatever you like.
Complex layouts — magazine columns, heavy graphics, forms — never survive perfectly in any converter, because a PDF describes where ink goes rather than how a document is structured. Text-led documents such as contracts, CVs, reports and letters come out closest to the original.
Scanned PDFs
If your PDF came from a scanner or a phone camera, its pages are photographs and there is no text to convert. Those files need OCR first, which reads the letters out of the picture; our OCR tool is on the way for exactly that.
